Gujarat recently imposed a ban on the release ‘Padmavati’ movie of of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Madhya Pradesh for the first state to ban the movie now Gujarat has become the second state to ban the release of the movie.
State Information and Broadcasting Department has issued a notification stating that the imposing of ban is necessary for public interest and to maintain the situation of law and order in Gujarat.
It has been further ordered by the state that the no cinema owners shall not distribute or exhibit the movie in the jurisdiction of the Gujarat State in any Multiplex/.Cinema hall/ Video Cinema/ Touring CInema etc
The movie stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh and has faced opposition from the Rajput Community and Karni Sena for depicting the queen Padmavati in the bad light. The Sena has also given various threats to Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The Supreme Court has already dismissed two petitions against the movie ‘Padmavati’ stating such petitions to be immature.
