Delhi Police Books Builder Firm and Tennis Player Maria Sharapova Following Court Direction

A FIR has been registered against a builder company- Homestead Infrastructure Development Private Limited and Maria Sharapova, an international tennis player on a complaint of a house buyer for a shady project in Gurgaon which is supposed to have  a tennis academy to be run by Maria and for which she even lends her name. The project is named as ‘Ace by Sharapova’.

FIR was registered on the complaint of Bhavna Aggarwal at Subhash Place police station in north west delhi for the offence of cheating and criminal conspiracy. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on october 24 has ordered to register the FIR and investigate the matter from all the ends.

The complainant through her advocate had stated that the company has collected Rs 53 lakhs for the shady project. She further said that the advertisement of the project specified that the project will have tennis academy by Maria Sharapova and she will give training as and when she will be available in India.

The builder promised to deliver the project in three year time and on the pretext of has has collected the booking amount of Rs 53 lakhs in the year 2013. It was submitted in the complaint that the builders lured the consumer with the advertisement of tennis academy in the said project by Maria Sharapova but the builders has not done anything in this regard and do not have the required license for construction of development.

The court held that in the instant case police investigation is necessary for the collecting evidence and for handing over the possession to the buyer.
