There has been a quite a stir about the legality of the coins of Rs.10. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reiterated that all types of 10 rs coins are valid and to be accepted as a legal tender. The RBI issued the statement on Wednesday after receiving several reports regarding the concerns of legality of the coins of Rs 10.
The RBI has issued 14 designs of Rs 10 coins till now and notice of the distinct features of all the designs has been notified to the public. It has been stated by RBI that all these designs of the coin are valid and no one can deny these coins for transaction, The coins are minted and designed by the government mints to reflect the various themes of economic, social and cultural values. RBI has also directed the bank to accept all kinds of the 10 rupees coin and that they do transaction and exchange the same at all their branches.
RBI added that it has come to their notice that certain traders and public has shown resistance in accepting the Rs 10 coins in certain places as they have concerns regarding its genuineness but the bank clarified that all the designs are genuine, legal and valid.
The RBI is all set to launch new Rs 10 bank notes in the chocolate brown colour. The length of the notes will be shorter than the current length of the note. The launch of new notes will not make the present 10 Rs notes invalid.
