If you recently got married or noticed an error in your name, you can change or update your name on your Aadhaar Card by applying for the Aadhaar Card name change, name correction or surname change service. Since this facility for name change/ name correction/ surname change is not available online, you will have to visit your nearest enrolment/update center to get it done. The earlier method of name change via post has been discontinued w.e.f. 31st July 2018.
Following is the process to get your name change, name correction or surname change on your Aadhaar Card:
STEP 1: Find your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment/ Update Center. To locate your nearest center, visit the UIDAI official site (https://uidai.gov.in/) and choose ‘Update Aadhaar at Enrolment/ Update Center’ from the My Aadhaar services menu. STEP 2: Visit your nearest Aadhaar enrolment/update center and fill the Aadhaar Enrolment/Correction Form

STEP 5: Once verified the executive will hand over an acknowledgment slip containing the Update Request Number (URN).

How to change or update your address with a valid address proof?
Following is the process to change or update your address on your Aadhaar Card if you have your valid Proof of Address.
STEP 1: Visit the UIDAI official site (https://uidai.gov.in/) and choose ‘Update your address Online’ under the ‘Update your Aadhaar’ services menu. Mention all the required details and you will find your nearest Enrollment Center.
STEP 2: You will be redirected to the Aadhaar Service Service Portal. (https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/).
STEP 3: Once redirected, click on “Proceed to Update Address”
STEP 4: In the redirected window, Enter your 12 Digit UID and CAPTCHA verification to receive a 6 digit OTP or 8 digit TOTP. An OTP or TOTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
STEP 5: Enter this OTP/TOTP and log in to your Aadhaar account and click on the “Address Update checkbox”
STEP 6: Fill in the relevant fields along with the correct address details that need to be updated.
STEP 7: Once filled, review your changes and continue to upload relevant documents which are valid proof of address (PoA). Upload original scanned and self-attested copies of your PoA document as per the list of acceptable supporting documents for verification.
STEP 8: Submit the request and note down the Update Request Number (URN) carefully. You can also go ahead and download or print your acknowledgment copy.
How to change or update your Address without a valid address proof?
Following is the process to change or update your address on your Aadhaar Card if you don't have your valid Proof of Address.
STEP 1: Visit the UIDAI official site (https://uidai.gov.in/) and choose ‘Update your address Online’ under the ‘Update your Aadhaar’ services menu. Mention all the required details and you will find your nearest Enrollment Center.
STEP 2: You will be redirected to the Aadhaar Service Service Portal. (https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/).
STEP 3: Once redirected, click on “Request for Address Validation Letter”
STEP 4: In the redirected window, log in with your Aadhaar Number or Virtual ID and OTP/ TOTP which will be sent to your registered mobile number.
STEP 5: Verify yourself by entering this OTP/ TOTP and log in to your Aadhaar account.
STEP 6: Post verification, enter ‘Address Verifier Aadhaar’ number click on submit. Post submission, an SMS is sent to the verifier’s registered number containing an OTP and link to verify your request.
STEP 7: Click on the link, login to account and verify the request to change your address using the OTP.
STEP 8: Again, an SMS is sent to your registered number containing SRN and the link to submit the application. Enter the SRN and OTP received through SMS.
STEP 9: You will then have to log in with your Service Request Number. Once logged in preview your address details and click submit a post which you will receive a letter and secret code via post.
STEP 10: Log in to the online address update portal and update your address via secret code, review your new address and submit the final request to obtain your URN for future reference.

STEP 1: Visit the official website of UIDAI and click on “Check Aadhaar Status” to see if Aadhaar is generated or updated.
STEP 2: Enter the EID (Enrolment ID) number.

Checking via Toll-Free Number
You can also check your Aadhaar Status via call. To avail of this facility, dial 1800-300-1947. Once a UIDAI agent picks up the call, he/she will ask you for your enrolment ID. Provide the enrolment ID so that the agent can cross-check the same. If the ID matches the database information then the agent will provide you with the status of your Aadhaar card.
Checking without Acknowledgement Slip
If you have misplaced your acknowledgment slip, you can still check the status of your Aadhaar by retrieving lost/ forgotten EID/UID. To do so follow these steps:
